About Custom Boxes

The history of custom boxes dates back to the mid-19th century when the innovation of paperboard made its debut. Paperboard, an early version of what we now know as cardboard, laid the foundation for the packaging industry, paving the way for various box types to emerge. By the late 1800s, the introduction of the Regular Slotted Carton (RSC) revolutionized packaging. With its simple design emphasizing efficiency, the RSC Custom boxes consist of a single sheet of corrugated board with flaps that fold over the top and bottom. This carton quickly gained popularity for its ability to be easily assembled and stored flat, making it an economical choice for shipping and storage.

As industries grew and packaging needs became more complex, the Full Overlap Carton (FOC) emerged. This design features end flaps that completely overlap, providing extra strength and a better seal, making it ideal for heavy or irregularly shaped items. The evolution of the Half-Slotted Carton (HSC) also contributed significantly to the packaging landscape, offering versatility without the need for a top flap, allowing for easier access to contents while maintaining structural integrity. Meanwhile, Telescoping Trays, characterized by a two-part design that allows one section to slide within another, offered a bespoke solution for items requiring extra protection or display value, commonly used in the electronics and retail sectors.

The introduction of the Double Cover box showcased another layer of customization, featuring two lids for added protection and security during transit, addressing the needs of high-value products or fragile items. Throughout this evolution, the custom cardboard box industry has thrived on innovation, continually adapting to meet diverse consumer demands, sustainability concerns, and advancements in manufacturing technologies. Today, custom cardboard boxes are a staple in various sectors, providing not only practical solutions for storage and shipping but also serving as powerful branding tools for businesses.
